A crude wooden, white cross marks this spot where about fifteen graves exist. Telephone conversations with Mrs. Eva Schafer of Schuler, Alberta, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Hugo (Anne) Woefle, of Medicine Hat, Alberta, have confirmed that this is a Catholic cemetery and about fifteen burials took place here. During a visit with Elmer and Elva Bertsch, 1 Jul 1997, it was discovered that the first burial at this location was that of Clemetine Schafer. She was interred in a low lying area which flooded the next spring; her remains were then moved to this higher point of land which became the current cemetery.
